Protect Your Trees & Shrubs From the Inside Out

If you've spent years growing a tree, shrub or rosebush, the last thing you want is for insects to slowly weaken it.
Aphids, certain beetles, scale insects and other pests can feed on ornamental plants and trees, sometimes causing significant damage before homeowners realize there's a problem.
At Nottingham Pest Control, we serve homeowners and businesses throughout Tarrant County and surrounding communities, and are now offering another option for protecting trees and shrubs from certain damaging insects: systemic soil treatments.
What Is a Systemic Soil Treatment?
Instead of spraying the outside of the plant, we apply the treatment directly into the soil around the plant's root zone.
The roots absorb the product, and it moves through the plant internally. That means we're able to treat the plant systemically rather than coating the foliage with a topical spray.
Systemic treatments can help protect against aphids, certain wood-boring beetles, scale insects, leaf-feeding beetles, mealybugs, whiteflies and other labeled pests.
Why Would You Treat a Tree or Shrub This Way?
One of the things we like about soil treatments is that we're applying the product where it can be absorbed by the plant instead of spraying the entire plant.
It can also provide longer-lasting protection because the treatment moves within the plant.
And because we're treating through the soil rather than spraying the foliage, there's less direct contact with the parts of the plant where bees and other pollinators feed. That helps protect those beneficial insects while still targeting the pests causing damage.
Is My Tree or Shrub a Good Candidate?
That's where we come in.
Not every struggling tree or shrub has an insect problem, and not every insect problem calls for a systemic treatment.
We'll look at the plant, identify what's happening and determine whether a soil treatment makes sense. If it doesn't, we'll tell you that too.
And earlier is generally better. Once a tree has already suffered significant damage from certain boring insects, treatment may not be enough to save it.
Concerned About One of Your Trees or Shrubs?
If you've noticed aphids, insect damage, declining foliage or something that just doesn't look right, we can help determine what's going on and whether a systemic soil treatment is a good option.
